Kristin Thelander

 

   

Kristin Thelander is Associate Professor of Music at the University of Iowa, and in the summer seasons she performs with the Britt Festival Orchestra in Jacksonville, Oregon.  Previously she was on the music faculty at the University of New Mexico, where she was a member of the New Mexico Brass Quintet (with whom she recorded a CD for Crystal Records), the Santa Fe Symphony, and the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra.  Dr. Thelander holds degrees from St. OIaf College, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Wisconsin. She was the 1981 First Prize Winner of the American Horn Competition.  She has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico, and the People's Republic of China, and has been a featured artist at Regional and International Horn Workshops. Thelander has been a member of the Advisory Council of the International Horn Society since 1987, and in 1990 was elected its Secretary/Treasurer.
