Karen Libischewski studied modern horn with Peter Hoekmeijer and natural horn with Teunis van der Zwart at the Amsterdam Conservatorium, where she obtained her Master's Degree in 2001. Following her graduation, she undertook further studies of the natural horn in the Formation Supérieure course in Saintes, France with Claude Maury. This two year diploma is a specialization in the classical and early romantic repertoire on historical instruments under the direction of Phillipe Herreweghe and the Orchestre des Champs Elysées. Karen graduated with highest distinctions. She has also taken master classes in natural horn with Lowel Greer (US), Anthony Halstead (GB) and Ab Koster (NL). As a freelance musician, Karen is active as an orchestral and chamber musician in The Netherlands, Germany, France and Finland and has participated in various CD and radio recordings. As a modern horn player, she has worked with the Radio Symfonie Orkest (NL), the Metropole Orchestra (NL), the Radio Kamer Orkest (NL), the ASKO Ensemble (NL), the Schönberg Ensemble (NL), the Volharding (NL), the Musikfabrik (D) and the Radio Kammer Orchester Köln (D). On the natural horn, Karen is a member of the Heidelberger Sinfoniker (D) and also works with orchestras such as Das Kleine Konzert (D), Freiburger Barockorchester (D), The 6th Floor Orchestra (FI), Concerto Brandenburg (D), Florilegium (NL), Concerto d'Amsterdam (NL), the Utrechts Barok Consort (NL), Ensemble Matheus (F) and the chamber music ensemble Nachtmusique
(NL). She is a member of the Halcyon Ensemble
